CLASSVI INTEGERS | |
*The number less than zero is represented by '-' negative sign. The set of whole numbers |
*Rules of addition of two integers 1. addition, multiplication ,division and substraction of positive numbers(natural numbers) is same. 2.addition,multiplication,division and substraction are different for integers. |
* i) multiplication and division of integers:The value will remain same as on natural numbers, but the sign will change. If the value of negative signs are even then the result would be positive number,if the value of negative signs are odd number then he result would be positive number.Eg: a) 23*(-14)= -322 b) 23*14=322 c) (-17)*(-18)*(-2) =-532 d)17*18*2=532 e) 17*(-18)*(-2)=532 f)45/(-3)= -15 g)(-45)/3 = -12 h)45/3=12 i)(-45)/(-3)=12 |
*ii) Addition and substraction of integers: If the sign of integers are same either positive or negative as in a) or d) the value will be added ,sign of the number will be positive if both the numbers are positive sign of the negative numbers will be negative if both the numbers will be added. But when signs are different a) 233 + 155=388 b) 233-155 = 122 c) 155-233= -155 d) (-233-155)= -388 |
*iii) simple simplification : two negative sign will be positive a)21-(-33)=21+33=53 b)-(-99) |
*iii) absolute value : it means only value excluding sign of any integer |-56|=56,|56|=56 |
